Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ.
On this second Sunday in Lent, we look back with gratitude how the journey so far has drawn us closer to Christ. The encounter with Christ has been through selfdenial, Bible Studies, fellowship, and other acts of kindness. Today’s gospel reminds us of what Jesus said about walking and working with him. He said, “if any want to become my followers let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” So, the closer we are drawn to Christ, the stronger we become in our discipleship. Let us continue to work on our discipline to keep this lent holy, by looking at all aspects of our lives that are less than Christ-like, and leave them behind to die as we journey on. This practice will, in the end, help us achieve what we mean by “dying with Christ and being resurrected in a purified form with him.” Almighty God, keep us both outwardly in our bodies, and inwardly in our souls, so that we may be defended from all ills that may befall the body, and from all evil thoughts that may assault and hurt the soul. Amen.
