POLICY FOR SAFEGUARDING CHILDREN, YOUNG PEOPLE AND ADULTS WHO ARE VULNERABLE.
PROMOTING A SAFER CHURCH
The following policy was agreed at the Parochial Church Council meeting on November 28th 2023…………………...
In accordance with the Church of England Safeguarding Policies, our church is committed to:
-
promoting a safe and caring place for all. We recognize there are different levels of vulnerability and that everyone should be treated with respect.
-
safely recruiting, training and supporting all who have responsibility for children, young people and vulnerable adults, so that they have the confidence and skills to recognize and respond to abuse.
-
listening to and taking seriously all those who disclose abuse. We will take steps to protect children and adults when a safeguarding concern of any kind arises, following House of Bishops guidance, including notifying the Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser immediately. We will co-operate fully with statutory agencies and will NOT conduct our own investigations.
-
offering support to victims/survivors of abuse, regardless of the type of abuse, when or where it occurred. We will also care for and monitor any member of the church community who may pose a risk to children and adults, while maintaining confidentiality and safety for all parties.
-
having a named Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), whose contact details will be displayed in the church premises and on the Parish website, so they may be contacted if there are safeguarding concerns or support is required.
-
ensuring that there is appropriate insurance cover for all activities involving children and adults undertaken in the name of the parish. We will also ensure that health and safety policy and risk assessments are in place and reviewed regularly.
-
reviewing the implementation of the Safeguarding Policy, Procedures and Practices annually.
